How to use the photo enhancer

  • Upload a photo, then hit Auto-enhance for a one-click fix.
  • Fine-tune with the sliders, or try a filter preset.
  • Hold "Compare" to see the original, then download as PNG or JPG.

What auto-enhance actually does

It's not magic and it isn't guessing. The tool reads the histogram of your image โ€” the spread of dark to light pixels โ€” and works out how much of the available range is actually being used. A flat, hazy photo typically uses only the middle of that range, so auto-enhance stretches it back out, lifting contrast and brightness to suit, and adds a modest saturation boost. Because it's measured from your specific image rather than a fixed preset, it does more for a dull photo and almost nothing to one that's already well exposed.

Where enhancement genuinely can't help

Being honest about limits: this improves tone and colour, not detail that was never captured. Sharpening increases local contrast at edges, which makes a slightly soft photo look crisper โ€” but it cannot recover a genuinely out-of-focus shot or add resolution to a small image. Similarly, brightening a very dark photo will reveal noise that was always there. If a photo is badly blurred or heavily compressed, no browser tool (and no honest "AI enhancer") can invent the missing information.

Benefits

  • One-click auto-enhance that measures your image histogram rather than applying a fixed preset.
  • Manual control over brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth, sharpen and blur.
  • Seven filter presets plus a hold-to-compare button to see the original.
  • No watermark, no upload โ€” everything is processed in your browser.

Limitations to know

  • It improves tone and colour; it cannot recover detail that was never captured.
  • Sharpening boosts edge contrast but will not fix a genuinely out-of-focus photo.
  • Brightening a very dark photo reveals the noise that was already there.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Over-sharpening, which creates ugly halos around edges.
  • Pushing saturation past the point where skin tones turn orange.
  • Expecting an "AI enhancer" to add resolution โ€” no honest tool can invent missing detail.

Alternatives

To reduce file size use the Image Compressor; to remove the background use the Background Remover.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No โ€” everything is processed on a canvas in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

Is there a watermark?

No. The downloaded image contains only your photo.

Can it fix a blurry photo?

It can make a slightly soft photo look sharper by boosting edge contrast, but it cannot recover detail that was never captured.

PNG or JPG?

PNG keeps maximum quality and supports transparency; JPG gives a much smaller file, which is better for sharing online.
